I attended Dungeons and Dragons in a Castle this past summer (full post about it here), and there my boyfriend and I met a phenomenal group of players, with the lovely Amy Vorpahl as our original dungeon master. Since then, we do a a monthly online one-shot session, usually with new characters and settings each time. This time, however, Quinn decided to give our characters a reunion one-shot for our holiday special, which included for the first time our soon-to-be-new-D&D-in-a-castle-group-member in 2020, Brooke!
Here was our promo image (character art by Jacob Grimoire and NIcolai Figueroa for Mina) for December 28, 2019:
Players/Characters, from left to right:
Miriam – Takari, a 3/4 elf frost wizard
Brooke – Mina, a dwarf druid
Lauren – Gimmer, a changeling phoenix sorcerer (modeled after my book character)
Andrew – Xhalarr, a bronze dragonborn warlock
Mike – Bert, a halfing bard with a dad bod
Steven – Sir Aslac, a veteran human cavalier fighter
And, of course, Quinn as our Dungeon Master
And here’s a snapshot of the virtual tabletop we played on. where we could move our pieces in real time!
One-Shot Plot:
Our heroes wake up to find they are no longer in the safety of their homes, wherever those may be now that they have parted ways since their grand adventure to the Overbright. They have no recollection of how they got to Iceville, or why they, specifically, are together again. Perhaps it has something to do with Kringlefest, the celebration of the legendary Nicholas Kringle who brought light to the darkness…and the recently massacred gnomes, kidnapped children, and otherwise utter disaster having befallen this dream-like winter landscape.
Re: the video: as with several of our videos, we forgot to press “record” initially, so we missed out on a couple of the introductions, but you’ll get the gist. Here is the link to YouTube, or watch below. Enjoy!
